People And Pattern.

People And Pattern.

For my people and pattern project I decided to take different patterns and apply them to where the person would not have clothes on their skin and then leave the person nude where they would normally have clothes or/and pattern. I think this is one of my best outcomes because I cut the pattern out so the pattern is very neat and considered. I decided to use black, gray and white for my colours. I added the burgundy because it was a subtle hint for the places that there was no skin to draw or ad pattern to.

Mesh Metal Sculpture.

Mesh Metal Sculpture.

This was made from observing a life model. She had her back to me with her arms behind her to support her. I tried to portray the tone by pushing the mesh together so that less light would show through because the spaces would be closed tighter together. I like this outcome because you can see where the shoulder blades are in the back and you can see where I have managed to get the detail of the body shape y just using mesh.

Woman Crawling, Life Drawing.

Woman Crawling, Life Drawing.

This is a 5/10 minute, A3 sketch from a life drawing session. I used a combination of a HB and a 2B pencil to create this drawing. The figure is correct in the way that it is in proportion I didn’t have much time to shade it very well although I did try to darken the lines to create tone. Overall I think this is one of my best quick drawings in life drawing.

Mesh Metal Life Sculpture.

Mesh Metal Life Sculpture.

I made this piece out of a square of soft metal mesh in a life drawing session. The mesh was pretty hard to work with and mold in to curves, I think there is a good resemblance to a head, shoulders and arms. I am happy with this piece of work.

Natalie Blake, Tiles, Tree.

Natalie Blake, Tiles, Tree.

Natalie Blake is a ceramic sgraffito artist that has done many different tiles based on nature; like the ones above. These are the ones that stand out the most to me. She’s helped bring the image to life by distorting the clay. Placing different size and shaped molds under the clay did this. She uses a spray-painting gun to apply the slip to carve through it. This is done because it gives an even and smooth finish without leaving brush marks, it’s also used to blend two colours together. She puts a lot of thought in to the colours that she uses, from what I can see she uses the colours that represent the different times of year.
