An exercise we had for people
watching was to look at the way that clothes sit on the body. We dressed up
mannequins and used pen and ink to draw it. I focused on the way the clothes were
to big, so it created shade on the body. I used a fine liner to draw the figure
and then used the ink to do the shading. I had to do layers of ink to make it
darker in places. This drawing came out very well I think I used the ink in an effective way and portrayed the way the top was to big on the mannequin.

Ceramic, Semi Porcelain Tinky Winky
I made this model from semi
porcelain clay for my colour museum project. I chose to do Tinky Winky because
it was a challenge with the curves and definition. Semi porcelain dries quite
quickly so I had to be gentle when it came to carving and shaping the piece. I
had to spray the clay lightly with a water bottle to keep it hydrated and
prevent cracks appearing.
Firstly I worked out the proportions to ensure that the head, body and feet were the correct size. I then moved on to adding more clay to where I had placed the arms so that they would come out from the body, as they should. I added the ears and antennae separately at the end and made sure everything was in line before I smoothed the item over with a soft brush in water.
This was my fist semi porcelain model, I think it came out well because there were no cracks and I had the proportions correct. It has a good resemblance to the Tinky Winky object I had based it on.

Porcelain Wall Sculpture by Dale Zheutlin
Porcelain Wall Sculpture by Dale Zheutlin.
Measuring 420cm x 420cm (14’ x 14’).
19993.
This wonderful piece by Dale Zheutlin
caught my eye because of the crisp lines and well thought out decoration. I chose
this piece because it ties in with our museum of colour project. The artist has
worked with many different colours and worked with the ones complement each other.
The
layers of stains and glazes are overlapping with different thickness'; this
gives the elusion of looking at a window when the sun is hitting the glass. In
this piece there is a mixture of block colour and line, the block colour has been used to break up the area of lines. Tone is
also shown in this piece in the way that the artist has used a mixture of dark
and lighter colours, there is a translucent white layer over the colours to
brighten them and move your eye away from the stronger areas on the piece.
